Dorian Gray (2009)
Naïve and innocent young man by the name of Dorian Gray arrives in Victorian London to live in the house he has inherited. He gets acquainted with the charismatic and calculated Lord Henry Watton under whose influence he immediately falls. Lord Wotton introduces inexperienced Gray to the benefits of hedonistic way of life. Watton’s friend, society artist Basil Hallward, paints a portrait of Dorian in order to capture the power of his youth and beauty. Infatuated with the portrait, Dorian makes a kind of a deal with the Devil, saying he would give anything, even his soul to stay forever as he is in the picture. Years pass by and Gray stays as young – looking as ever, while his portrait grows old, reflecting all his sins on canvas. He realizes he must guard this secret at all cost when true love enters his life. The adaptation of the famous Oscar Wilde play is a tale of power, greed, vanity, deceit and sins.
